We are looking for highly motivated individual to fill the following position:

Senior Communications Officer

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the production of the Chamber’s business magazine throughout the entire production cycle from collation, writing articles, pagination, editing, printing to distribution, as well as all related administrative work, including monitoring given budgets, invoices, payments etc.
  • Spearhead the production of other Chamber publications and brochures, including content development
  • Develop a social media strategy and implement this strategy in relevant social media platforms in line with the Chamber’s business objectives
  • Administer the Chambers’ social media accounts and contribute to strengthen the image of the Chamber as well-respected service provider and voice of the Malaysian-German businesses community
  • Actively build and maintain good relationships with media, member and non-member companies as well as (potential) advertisers and cooperation partners
  • Prepare and execute press conferences, write and send out press releases, press invitations and media kits and monitor respective media coverage
  • Handle external communication channels such as website (TYP03 system), e-newsletter and exhibition space at the MGCC office to maintain publicity for the Chamber’s products, activities and services
  • Monitor communications outreach and ensure alignment with strategic objectivities and targets
  • Assist in ensuring quality control in internal and external communication channels and the correct application of the Chamber’s Corporate Identity (CI), and provide CI-related advice and support to all other departments
  • Assist in the production of the annual Membership Directory
  • Assist in Chamber’s events and administrative tasks of the Communications Department.

Required Skills / Knowledge:

  • Experience and proven track record of publishing a magazine
  • Interest in and understanding of social media and digital platforms
  • Excellent spoken and written English is a must. Knowledge of the German language is an advantage
  • Wide-ranging interest in economic and business related topics as well as current affairs
  • Liking for creativity and developing “out of the box” ideas
  • Capability to deliver results pro-actively and self-responsibly
  • Team Player, fast learner, attention to detail and able to work under pressure and within tight deadlines
  • Basic photography skills

Experience Needed:

  • Minimum of 5 years relevant working experience in Mass Communications, Journalism, Marketing or other related fields

Educational Background Required:

  • Minimum Bachelor Degree in Mass Communications, Journalism, Marketing or other related fields
