B. Braun Opens 5 New Medical Production Facilities in Penang
B. Braun Medical Industries officially opened 5 new production plants and other administrative buildings in Penang on 18 April 2018. Spanning 184,000 square metres across two campuses, the new state-of-the art facilities, featuring the latest building and production technologies, manufacture medical devices for infusion therapy, pharmaceutical solutions and surgical instruments for the treatment of patients in Malaysia and around the world.
Established in 1972, B. Braun Medical Industries is the global healthcare company’s Asia Pacific Regional Headquarters. The Penang site also houses the B. Braun Global Centre of Excellence for Intravenous Access with full research and development capabilities; and the Aesculap Academy Skills Learning Centre, which provides continuous medical education and training to doctors, nurses and other healthcare professionals in Malaysia and across the region. Today, more than 7,700 employees work at B. Braun in Penang.
Officiating at the launch were the Chief Minister of Penang, Mr Lim Guan Eng; the State Health Deputy Director for Medical Services, Dr Elizabeth Anthony; and the Ambassador of Germany to Malaysia, His Excellency, Nikolaus Graf Lambsdorff; Professor Dr. Heinz-Walter Grosse, Chairman of the Management Board, B. Braun Melsungen AG; and Ms Anna Maria Braun, President, B. Braun Asia Pacific.
