A taste of German springtime in Kuala Lumpur
Of all that is beautiful in springtime, it is the humble asparagus that is a true marker of the triumphant arrival of a brighter season. MGCC is proud to host the Spargelzeit in Kuala Lumpur once again, this time with the valuable assistance of our sponsors DACHSER and in collaboration with the German-Speaking Society of Kuala Lumpur.
This year's Spargelzeit event was held within the elegant settings of Samplings on the Fourteenth restaurant, Berjaya Times Square. The traditionally seasonal menu was carefully put together by celebrated Chef Jochen Kern, who enchanted and indulged guests during the evening with his delicious compositions of fine food, artisan sauces and imported wine.
The draw of the evening, namely the tender white stalks of asparagus, had earlier been flown in from the famous Spargelhof Böser near Frankfurt am Main to Kuala Lumpur. Our sponsors DACHSER had raced against time to ensure that the precious cargo would land garden-fresh on the plates of over 120 guests.
"For DACHSER, the cooperation with the MGCC on the Asparagus night was a great opportunity to show the German community in Kuala Lumpur our on-time logistic capabilities when it comes to handling sensitive cargo. It was a delightful evening with a remarkable culinary feast to celebrate the asparagus seasonal tradition here in Malaysia," said Jan-Michael Beyer, head of sales for Thailand, Singapore, Malaysia and Vietnam, DACHSER.
We would like to thank all who came, and for making the event a success. We hope to have dinner again with you at the next Spargelessen.
